African Night Walker

It leaves human-like footprints around the poultry-house;
footprints look smaller, with sharper toes.
Egg shells sometimes are scattered around the farm,
all having a hole at their tips.

According to some African folklore,
the creature is able to calm down the chickens,
as it steals almost all their eggs;
there's suspicion it has a high IQ,
because it leaves some eggs, knowing that one
day the eggs will hatch to chicks,
will will in turn grow to egg-laying hens.

Superstitious folks believe that the creature
is a messenger of the Tokoloshe (Avenging Spirits),
as it spies on the unsuspecting villagers;
it then runs deep into the caves,
to tell the Tokoloshe how many virgins it has seen;
their blood is their elixir of immortality.

No one has ever managed to take them a pic;
they are nocturnal animals,
which keep away from humans during the day.
They stay in the deepest caves,
infested with vampire bats and freaky arachnids.

Cryptozoologists have placed under the unknown
classification of animals, like the Bigfoot and Lochness
Monster.

Sometimes I feel as though it's right behind me,
as I study Stone Age drawings in caves....
