Advocate

People ask me why I do what I do?
The say get a real job U dumb a.s.s. fool
My teacher's tryna call me lazy
When just the other day I walked across
         the bridge for Aids
         How she gonna tell me
I don't have my priorities straight
When everyday all day I advocate
Some friends of mines just don't get it
They tryna tell me other jobs
                   That pay weekly
                     My pockets would be fat
But when I think about it
So would some of my friends
                          Running off somewhere pregnant again
Burning, While i'm racking in the cash
                                I mean D.A.M.N
Peer educators are in steady demand
It makes me feel good any way I can lend a hand
I hate to see our generation falling deeper into
                                        The stereotype
They say we can't do nothing right
I intend to prove them wrong
So yeah I could be somewhere else
                                                     Sipping lemonade
                                                        Lounging in the shade
                                                        Or simply getting paid
                                                    But I choose to advocate
cause I want to make a difference
                                                             Before I leave this place
