Adobo

this is your recipe for adobo:
a portion of brain --- yours.
don't have one?
take mine.
a piece of your lungs --- no wait.
here's a cigarette: spice.
take a teaspoon of tears ---
yes, yours.
turn it into stone --- this my
teacher told me.
your concoction is ready: stir,
stir hard.
now try it --- just try.
you'll need it later.
when you break your heart,
it will come in handy.
by then you will need that portion
of brain: think,
think good things.
that piece of smoked lung --- breathe,
slowly.
that tear that is stone: melt it
into tears again: cry

Congratulations for a win in my contest! The creativity in the formatting of this poem is exceptional, and it has a great rhythm to it as well. I don't think I've ever seen an instructional poem quite like this!  -KMD
