Adieu My Dear Past
This 'dawn' fills me with dusk
I clear my throat of the choke
Tightly shut my lids
Lest ‘tear –falls’ fall down my cheeks
My hand has been a pliers around a thread
With the other end free up the air
Whether a kite or bird – you’re not in sight
Sadly, what’s left is to slacken my grasp
I let a blast of air down my constricted chambers
As I watch the last piece of you distance itself
Inside, a disheveled self is left - a part of me you took
But have I not been a diamond before
And just like in the past –
A locket of our memories I put around my heart
Willing my mind to shift its focus forward
Yes- like fruits, time in plenty I’ll take
Before my heart can get well again
But adieu my dear past
I take the hand of the present – hopeful of the future
