Adhd

The clock ticks on as I glance around the room
Just a kid being a kid you assume?
Wrong! I suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
“Grow up” they say and act your age
Medicine after medicine that make us zombies is all the rage
I can’t even sit still
So their solution? Give me a pill
I trapped in my own sea of thoughts that crash over me like a wave 
They all scream “WHY DON'T YOU JUST BEHAVE”!
It isn’t that easy don't they realize?
Am I supposed to be quiet,prim,and proper like a little prize?!

Rico Leffanta Date: 10/30/2020 10:42:00 AM As a further thought, Hippocrates said there was no illness that could not be cured by food and ADHD is a modern phenomenon, so why not trying going for one month eating only natural food and drinking only pure water and see what happens? Rico Leffanta Date: 10/29/2020 12:05:00 PM A major problem with education is teachers repeating the same lesson over and over until everyone in their classroom "gets it", which assumes everyone in the classroom thinks the same way although everyone knows parents and siblings think differently. If you "got it" the first time round, the repetition will drive you crazy or you will focus on something else. All that is important is that you understand how your own mind works - and develop it! Jan Allison Date: 10/29/2020 6:15:00 AM oh Katy how I wish this poem could be read by EVERY teacher of kids of any age... i worked with kids with adhd (and also kids with autism) the medication would make them like zombies with eyes lacking their sparkle like a dead fish. got to add this to my faves for so many reasons - if there are groups to help with adhd you should send them this poem and get it published for a far wider audience:-) hugs jan xx Login to Reply
