Notes About The Poem

to those who love and wait the addicts ressurection- promises are the stinging disappointments of the wait.

Addiction

You said you'd be straight by his birthday.
Your birthday,
My birthday,
For sure by Christmas.

No more lies and no more tries.
you're half-past late
oh so late
too late.

Promises should never be broken.
Broken promises are lies
lies but a token
all promises broken,

A promise is absolute to the child.
you cannot lie to a child
you should not lie to a child
nor break the heart of a promise.

Oh my! This is a very mature piece of work. Another suggestion for you quotes file, "you should not lie to a child". Very poignant! Regards, Dean
