Addicted To You

He fills me with passion and energy
But fear slips between the cracks
He's the anchor to my ship
Or weight pulling me down
Mr. Charming and angelic
Until jealously overtakes
Too late
Captured

They tell me I should leave this place
Flee the life of walking on eggshells
But he knows just what to say
To make me go back
I always come back
I can't leave
I'm his
Guilty.

I treasure moments of peace alone
Scared, yet enticed to stay
I can change him
He'll get better
More time
Excuses.

Years have gone by
Same old game
Bruises, scars
Hopeless.

Imprisoning my mind
Blaming myself
Defeated

But in the end
He makes me feel
And that's all I deserve

I love how the verses become smaller, as does the resistance. The closing line is excellent. Good writing!
