Acts of Service

Some say that Christmas now wanders lost
Yet, I see a callous world remember
Neighbors, friends, in sweet homemade thank you cards
I see this world stretch loving hands
To those wearing rags, facing empty shelves,
They bring the Magi's gift to poverty
And make sure children have gifts by the tree
A world of aching feet asks no thank you
As they spread the Christ child's gift of joy.

Congratulations on your win. Your "Acts of Service" is a beautiful yet sad write. I love the movie the "Magi" but have not seen it in many years. It is about a couple and the love they had at Christmas and a gift they wanted to give but had no money. Have A Very Blessed/Happy New Year 2026 writing away...................

Thank you, Andrea! It would, indeed, be a beautiful world! One can only continue to hope and pray that the feelings of this season will carry over into next year and beyond. Merry Christmas!

Oh, Sam, the emotion in this poem is lovely and touching. It also reveals you, to me it shows that you focus on the good and therefore are part of the 'force' manifesting good. We see where we focus and that makes this poem precious, as well as necessary and important in the world. You asked about my poem, "Crafting Anne", and I regret it took so long to answer; no, none of my names are Anne, I wrote it for someone else. I haven't time to tarry but I will be back before you can say 'Santa'.

"And miles to go before I sleep" especially at this time of year. This poem was written in response to a sentiment that says we really don't care. And, I just had to say I disagree because of I see so many "acts of service" and kindness at this time of year. Thank you for your heartfelt response to this poem! It warmed my heart like a cup of cheer! I am so glad we get to share Christmas through our words and the work of our hands! Merry Christmas! Sending you blessings of peace and joy!

A callous world yes with some. But still many good people and good deeds done. A world of many and a wonder for some to enjoy. So many needing help of course.

Merry Christmas, Eve! Like you I believe there are so many good people who inspire! It seems that many people at this time look for ways to help those in need. As we watch and wait it is gratifying that people see ways to help and be of service reflecting the Christ Child. Merry Christmas!

I see so many instances of those acts of service to which you mention.....I've had an experience at Walmart when a woman I didn't know came up to me and offered to load my heavy 24-packs of water and soda in my car. In my heart of hearts, I think people want to be joyful and loving. Anyway, I loved your poem, hugs, Sara

Greetings, Sara! It is amazing what this holiday brings out in people. An understanding of service and giving back in an avalanche of love. We, as a people, basically create an avalanche of love born from a baby boy in a manger. Merry Christmas. May your holiday be filled with joy, love and peace! Thank you for your joy filled message! Hugs and blessings. So glad we could share this amazing holiday season!!

Dear Sam, you touched me with your message of quiet strength. Love often shows itself most clearly in the small, unseen gestures. The Magi’s gift, the aching feet, the joy spread without expectation, all of it carried a deep honesty that lingered after reading. Holiday Blessings, Dear Sam, Daniel

Thank you so much dear Daniel. So often people dismiss their acts of kindness and remembering those around them as inconsequential. I wanted to remind all of us of the goodness in the work of our hands, our ministry, how we become aware of the needs around us! Sending you blessings of Christmas joy and all the best for the new year!
