Across the Niger
Let the sun meet the moon
and the dusk embrace the dawn;
let parallels form a plain
a bridge to unite East and West.
Let language be no curse
and distance be no barrier;
let earthly divides cease to be
like ashes scattered to the wind.
Across the Niger I found my bride
let no tongue wag or snide;
love transcends language or tribe
and I return a fulfilled soul!
