Across the Hall
I almost walked across the hall
In the breaking light of dawn,
I almost walked across the hall
Would it be so very wrong?
I almost walked across the hall
But told myself to sleep,
I told myself I would never tell
This secret I would keep.
If I walked across the hall
I would find passion waiting there,
Tears upon my pillow
Would that really make him care.
I could never hurt my friend
Even though I craved his touch,
My heart was beating faster
I loved him very much.
Maybe in my younger days
With such a carefree mind,
I would have walked across the hall
And closed the door behind.
