Acquaintances

What used to be
A deep, late night conversation
Is now a meaningless, small talk

New face, new space
New direction, new life
New body to share your bed

Despite claims of wanting to stay in touch
You are never the first to reach out
And I am always giving more

I allowed myself space
I processed my hurt and anger
I lowered my expectations

Seems like everything's changed
But yet nothing's changed
Except, that now
We are just acquaintances
