Acoustic Shadows

I cup my hand
  no Doppler's circle
this well of emptiness
        as I splay my fingers
   more of the same
hits the floor
          fits of giggles
        screams
               groans
murmur then fade
eyes hold the sound of the afterimage
   as ears seek its nuance
observer - the end/in the beginning

      the hatching in the darkness
a dance within the drift of focus
     of every empty
             cupped hand

I've been such a huge fan of your writing lately, Laurentine. I'm young and have a lot to learn, recently having picked up ekphrasis. Yours have served as a fantastic example. Thank you for publishing :)

Wow glad I tuned into this one today LG (eyes hold the sound of the afterimage as ears seek its nuance observer - the end/in the beginning, is this the point on the möbius strip of eternity, where continuity weaves back into itself and we do it all again, certainly sounds like some kind of revelation, love the imagery in this one with Doppler circles missing, Einstein would have called this, (spooky action at a distance) I’ll just say you’re onto something deeper at hand, thought provoking! Cheers David

I loved writing for this one Davy! Felt like healing, though I think on the retrospect it'll need an edit for Craig. It was a pre-dawn write and I'm less filtered, it's now post sunset and I'll take the glory that Einstein would high five me re this one lol - we all loop da loop!

You are deep, and I go deep as i read your words, so abstract yet, throws a punch, leaves the reader feeling every line like, what? I absolutely love what youv done with this prompt and how brilliant your flow of poem is. I especially love “eyes hold the sound of the afterimage as ears seek its nuance observer - the end/in the beginning” gosh why is that so moving? Felt that! Youv written a unique one, that deserves all the accolades as always, and im not biased! Hah! Goodluck

Haha we should investigate how bias works - there's theory's that it's disproportionate liking but I reckon it's knowing what you like and sticking to your guns :) thank you for your enthusiasm - I enjoyed writing for this one but tend to tweak when writing for Craig! I was pleased I thought of hatching for shadows :)
