Acorn Plops

An acorn plopped down from a tree And hit the deck right next to me. It joined some others waiting for A stronger breeze to drop some more. It almost bounced upon my head; I'm glad it found the porch instead For it came down with so much force I'd have a bump, but it changed course. The squirrels must be set to dash And round these up for winter's stash. I sit outside, relax and wait As acorn plops reverberate.

When I was hitch-hiking (A million years ago) a nut fell on my head and yes it hurt and left a bump. When I looked up a squirrel was chattering like laughter at me! We see them a lot because they steal the bird seed! Well written and rhymed as usual!...pat

Lucky you! Acorns are an Apache staple, so you should be able to find acorn stew receipts on line. Bon appetite! Aloha! Rico

What about a crash helmet, Ilene:) What a cute sweet poem this is! Alas, we have no squirrels in Malta; luckily I came across several on my trips abroad, and shared some food with a couple of them. Regards // paul

I miss seeing the antics of the squirrels Ilene. We don't have any here in Hawaii. I enjoyed reading this sweet poem! : )

Thank you, Jan! I always see tourists in the city taking pictures of squirrels and have to remind myself that they don't live everywhere...
