Aching Void

My grief lies dormant, in hibernation
but pain is buried deep in my heart, still.
A tinge of sadness with no cessation.
My dad's death left a void nothing can fill.
In summer, I still feel the winter's chill.
There's a gaping hollow in my soul's core.
Sorrow wages a never-ending war;
a quicksand that wants to swallow me whole.
It's a fire, raging; an ocean's roar
There's a hollow, but life's joys filled the hole
