Notes About The Poem
When we turn our backs, when we look the other way, when we sit in judgement, that person will find a way to be accepted. Kids join gangs for acceptance. People join organizations whether good or bad for acceptance. When we have that universal acceptance, we will have peace.

Acceptance

A need for acceptance in each and everyone
To be part of something special in our lives
Feeling a sense of belonging when day is done
Look forward to greeting the world when morning arrives
Affiliation brings self-respect, an inner pride
Sometimes prejudice and bigotry reveal their fangs
There is no peace, no hope when you hurt inside
One more reason why sometimes our kids join gangs
We are one people, one race living on this earth
No one should feel unaccepted anywhere
Each human being should know their worth
Then hatred would no longer be the cross we bear
When we can understand what is right and wrong
When we have complete acceptance barring none
Then we can live the dream we've had for oh so long
Man can lay down his weapons, the battle done.

'...no one should feel unaccepted anywhere,' the heart, I think, of this declamatory statement. Well rhymed, with a pleasing cadence. A bulletin for every church, school and government building. Well done, Vince! Best wishes, Keith

Glad you enjoyed my poem, Vince. Enjoyed your poem. Self acceptance is a big one too - sometimes can be more important than the acceptance of others. Acceptance of others is then a bonus. Cheers, Maureen

Thanks Vince for dropping by. I have also enjoyed reading your poems. This poem showed your brilliant ideas that acceptance really makes everyone happy. We should accept others regardless of their colors or nationality. There should be no racial discrimination among countries. Thank you very much for sharing. More power to you.
