Acceptance

Goodbye storybook romance
Goodbye motherhood
Hello singlehood
I'm putting my dreams away
and accepting the bittersweet reality
that you're someone else's child
Just for today
I relish the memory of holding you
Fresh and newborn
that I'll never let go of
Just to see you again and touch your sweet face
Is today's fantasy
and tomorrow's hopeful reality
