Absence

the name of the thing is height
or vertical distance
symbolically it is sky, mountain
in practice five floors are enough
I think having kids prevents a lot of things
they are a kind of anchor
an obstacle to ultimate freedom
but if your face shows despair
if the skin is absurdly pale and taut
similar to clenched hands
you then forget the anchor
and go up in the building
in this case the soot of the horizon
the shrill sound of sirens
the conflagrated arteries of the metropolis
are just another invitation
and soon after
everything is absence

Have a fear of heights is a hindrance to me, no matter how inviting. Marvelous images throughout, Marco.
