Absence

Well, I’m waiting for this to end.
When I see the light across the night,
I know that it’ll be the end,
The end of this hopeless fight.

Too many times I’ve cut open my skin
And found that the emptiness is still there.
I lost because I knew I couldn’t win
And still life didn’t seem to care.

The story has ended like no other,
There was no happy ending, no happily ever after.
The pages were turned one after the other
Leaving increasing pain thereafter.

A trickle of life remains,
Flowing slower every day.
Time has passed in pains,
Taking you away.

Well, I’m waiting for this to end.
When I see the light across the night,
I know that it’ll be the end,
The end of this hopeless fight.
