Above and Below
The spires boldly point above, almost naked in their dramatic stance
But they are not unique, as the trees do the same
And the birds, butterflies and stars are carefully displayed upon the blue tapestry
It seems that everything seeks above
But the shiny stone that once dwelt in the stars glistens by my feet
Perhaps both above and below are within each heart
Above is the striving, the hope, the insight and search
Below is the framework, the security, the roots and the memory
To see above you feel below
To see below you feel above
They are both unanswered yet beautiful journeys
The earth’s soil warms our cells with its love
While we squint at the bright sky that shows us what can be
We are the rough stones yet to be polished.
