Abdicate
Shattering the pieces,
a lullaby torn in two,
fairy-tale lies,
and unforgettable you.
I clench your jacket,
reminiscent flashbacks-
as I fall to my knees-
you aren't coming back.
And if by some miraculous fault
you come running back
you'll realize the door's been locked-
chained-
abandoned,
I gave up.
Because once was enough, two was too much
a third isn't possible
though I'll forever miss your touch-
you lost the game this time,
and though I dread it-
I hope it hurts,
I hope you feel the same pain
from the same game
you tried to win over and over
having what ever you'd like-
expectations.
But no,
this time there's no happy ending,
this time you lost me-
for ever-
hence the word ever,
because you've had me twice before,
swept me off my feet and let me hit the ice cold floor-
each time I was blind to your sly selfish ways
and each time I tumbled, feet over head hoping you'd save my collapse-
hoping you'd be the one-
hoping you'd be the one I trusted, the one I believed
but really,
you're just like the rest.
