Abandoned People of Afghanistan

Abandoned people of Afghanistan -
what can most people do? What can we say
since after all these years when war began.
Your liberty has now been yanked away.

In shock the world looks on with fear for you,
abandoned people of Afghanistan.
Though some escaped, the number is too few
of those who heard the news and quickly ran.

You’re left now to the wrath of Taliban.
Your instant plight is sadly all too real.
Abandoned people of Afghanistan,
what horror and betryal you must feel.

For those pursued by ugly brutal men,
injustice has you in its grip. What can
we do but pray while you’re in the lion’s den?
Abandoned people of Afghanistan!

This about sums it up. Thank you so much, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, for managing to humiliate the Afghans, the US, and the idea that the US is a superpower. Ha! Big Joke. ~ gw

Excellent musing, Andrea! It's a sad truth, their present reality is fraught w/danger. In evil times, the righteous hide in the shadow of God's wings of protection. Love and more love always.

Andrea, I am reading your poems tonight, and really should be commenting on each one, so far I love all of them. I had to comment on this one though. This situation has me heartsick. Your poem is powerful, you have an amazing gift of words. I am praying, for them, and us. This is beyond shocking. Americans left behind, horror for the innocent Afghan people, our American equipment/weapons left in terrorist hands. Devastating beyond words.

The point about democracy is the 'divine right' s abolished all power is delegated for a fixed period Andrea..so..email them inc Biden/Trump ,senator/house rep etc etc especially in the year before e-election & encourage others to do the same..never give up on you democratic rights..they cost effort to achieve.

Democracy Andrea,is about voting locally, statewise&nationally.not FB postings & the like..that is where people power resides..sadly there are still areas that do not understand this point..but instant communication (& God's help)will help to change that ..but patience is needed rather than net posting

sadly, I see no real choices in front of me. For example, the national elections are disasters. Trump or biden. It's a lose lose situation. you are right about local. I do need to get more involved in THAT!

Democracy is disappearing, that's why. I post things on FB and they are taken down. If I (and news sources that go against the mainstream) no longer enjoy freedom of speech in my own country the way things used to be, I don't suppose the rest of the world is enjoying it as much as they used to either.

It doesn't matter which century we are in. Even the suppression of information is a type of oppression, and it will lead to things worse and worse with time (in my own country) So sad that the people of Afghanistan will lose the few rights they finally gained.

Andrea, I love this poem. Concerns about these people left to tyrant leaders press upon me every day. This is a poem that needs to be told.

You speak of their suffering eloquently, Andrea. Not much others can do for a sustained period of time if brother turns on brother in their own land. I pray with you for them.

What is this, democracy, we so believe in, Biden as got to be a puppet of the left wing woke. He is pathetic, that is from my point of view and age. Great Poem Andrea, you are the light.

I would say now - a puppet of a totalitarian govt. that we are seeing my country becoming. Other countries are succumbing and soon perhaps all the world. I would not be surprised if China simply swoops in soon and takes my country over without even a squabble. Free handouts will be ending soon and then everyone too late will see.

They certainly miscalculated the Taliban advance, they should have started evacuations months ago when it was safe to do, cant understand why they left it until the last minute. Tom

I'm sure there was a reason. Puppet masters have their reasons.
