A Yard of Grass Now Forgotten
Stout wheels carried the weight
Of those bodies sapped of hate
Across that lifeless blooded field
Bandaged eyes in lines did wield
Upon the wind by night and day
Horrific words came to play
Piercing screams of Gas! Gas! Gas!
Amidst the choking the souls amass
Lungs would choke and eyes stream
From pungent clouds of killing green
Foaming mouths, wrenching spittle
The suffering immense, the pity little
How much lower can man sink
Of how much evil must he drink
To perloin the soul of another man
For a yard of grass now forgotten
