A World of Rolled Up Newspapers

                                 stop shaking

                              it's only thunder

Aw I'm honoured! Elated to inspire. I'm just thinking, the "b" word would pump up the between the lines volume of this one. This crowd's not up for that me thinks ;p xomo (read yours once, coming back with coffee)

I think the sound of loud thunder frightens most dogs rather small or large. We have little thunder here in the islands but on New Year's and Fourth of July dogs have to be kept inside. A great entry Mo! ; )

Nah, some, not most, in my experience. Working with dogs 18yrs only had a couple I think. My late Asteroid (white huskyXshepherd) would watch the blasting on the river with me :) she made the Police K9 Unit jealous at the Rememberance Day Ceramony with the cannons and their shepherd going off... Thank you Connie! xomo!

I can relate to that...I didn't know how to comfort him when our dog did that. A moment well captured.

Actually with a dog, you have to not comfort them as that is akin to rewarding the behaviour, rather, you need to be their stoic pack leader. Lead by example if you will. Of this piece, I have in trying to explain the PTSD to a partner infuriated that I should flinch used the example of an abused dog. xomo

I just saw an advert for a comfort shirt for dogs during the storms...wonder if they really work

Thunder shirts, I've heard they work. Fortunately neither of my dogs have had such issues. I would take them with me to fireworks displays, they would be more interested in the smells of rabbits and groundhogs than the show.

Thank you Mike :) yes! I managed to cure my dog of her fear of flying feet, having obviously been kicked in her previous life. xomo
