A World In Shame

A world in Shame

When I was younger many places I travelled
Spain and France to name but two
And my eyes did many wonders see
And I felt the history of both
I SAW THE GALLEONS THAT SAILED THE SEAS
And the soldiers preparing for war
And I saw the blood that was on both sides spilled
Hearing the cries from them as not yet dead
While all around the guns did roar
Then on to Germany with building destroyed
From a much later war
I heard the cries of many poor souls
That died in agony that were trapped inside
Then on to Holland where the flowers bloomed
A country where the war had passed And the windmills in their glory stood
Next to England where I could hear the sirens blare
As the enemy over them did fly
Dropping bombs that suddenly silent went
Sending people into shelters cold
Waiting for those silent bombs to fall
Never knowing where they would land
All these places now restored
Replacing buildings from old to new
Now I sit at home and see the carnage
That plagues the world today
Caused by terrorists in so many ways
Leaving home to escape in fear,
Many crying and others in pain
How many must die or homeless be
Before the world kind find peace
And walk the streets and not hear the cries
Because of those of lust and greed
Without a care for human lives
The only answer lies with us
To save humanity before it is to late
The leaders of the world must join together
As one UNITED
If these atrocities are to stop.

G'day Bob … most wars appear on religious disagreements that the masses are caught up in. Very few people caught up in war can ever truly recover - thank you Bob for your insightful verse - Lindsay
