A Wish For Christmas
This Christmas I don’t want a thing
Not a single present under the Christmas Tree
There’s just one thing I want
More then anything in the world
The one thing I wish for with all my heart
Is for a normal Christmas next year.
Christmas Parades marching down every street
Carolers singing to their hearts’ content
Kids sitting on Santa’s lap then standing behind a screen
Lovers sharing a kiss under the mistletoe.
Families being reunited
After a year of separation
From the Covid Blizzard
That stole their holiday memories of 2020.
Exchanging gifts with one another
Giving ribbon hugs to our loved ones
Without the fear of turning to ice
Of the Covid Frost, but has melted away.
Exploring the Christkindlmarket
A warm cup of hot cocoa in hand
Checking the shops of all the knick knacks
Of the artistic crafts and ornaments
And Bon Bons from the Sweet Stand.
There would be Christmas Parties
Across the entire nation
From Charles Dickens
To Ugly Sweaters
Go nuts by throwing Halloween in the mix
To make Tim Burton grin.
That’s all I want for Christmas, Santa
My wish is for 2021 be the year
Where we get our version of Christmas
Back to where it’s supposed to be.
