A Winter From the Past
Raindrops dripping over the trees
Into to the air it did seize
Chiming clear, like musical notes
Hitting them hard at their throats
Winters come a calling at your door
With the thought of survival your first chore
Winds are blowing a slow lullabye
With frightening notes way up high
Covered in a still dewy dream
A magical moment from a romantic scene
Streams of water move no longer
With the coldest nights getting stronger
Frozen in place, frozen in time
From the tops of the mountains it no longer climbs
Blank are the days that lay upon this land
Sad was their existence that ran out in strands
Cold are the hands that plow it away
Tired are their eyes covered with gray
And the days grow shorter
And the nights so meek
Sore are the soles of their feet
Through the harshest wind and the coldest plight
We lay close together through the darkest of night
I stand here with my nose pressed to the glass
With weary notions derived from the past
