A Wilted Rose

Wilted rose petals unable to attract bees. Concubine's mirror holds the reflection of gloom as she daubs rouge on wrinkles.

This is wonderful, it's been long since I read a poem like this. Was reading stuff on insta and fb, and honestly those people are spoiling poetry. Congratulations on the placement

I agree with you completely. Sometimes it worries me a lot but then a community of such brilliant poets like poetrysoupers give me hope. Thanks for the visit, it is much appreciated.

This is a wonderfully pathetic image, Afzal, of an aging courtesan who is trying to recapture the "flower" she still sees in the reflection of the mirror. Perhaps she's preparing...again...for a vainly hoped-for visit from the Sultan tonight.
