A Whimsical Flight

My friends said it couldn't be done;
so I thought it might be fun.
And though it felt like a dream,
l assembled my ground team.
I took my time explaining
what I was entertaining.
And they gathered all I'd need,
including a bag of feed.
Now, hippos aren't meant to fly;
and yet, I'm willing to try.
But balloons will have to do;
although it will take a few.
I then asked my pigeon friend
if he would help me descend.
And pop a balloon or two;
when my whimsical flight's through.
That way, I'll slowly drift down,
till I'm safely on the ground.
It's such an exciting day;
I'm stoked to get underway.
I'm scared, yet I'm loving it;
and don't regret it a bit!
I'm floating amidst the clouds,
peering down on cheering crowds.
