A Wasted Day

On waking this morn
just before dawn
my head
it was pounding
so loud it was sounding
I stumbled from bed
hands holding my head
and opened the door 
to my balcony
as fresh air may be 
of some help to me

But no, this headache 
was not going to go
so tablets were taken 
feeling so god forsaken
and drinking some water 
dehydrated ~ so I oughta
the pain still persisted
going out I resisted
and went back to bed
spent my day there instead
for this wretched headache 
would not go away
until 10 pm at the end of my day
when I shouted loudly
Hip, Hip, Hurray!

Then this poem I penned 
day not wasted in the end!


Written after recovering from a very painful headache today ~ 4th June 2019

I used to get loads of tension headaches and only Nurofen plus could shift them but just get the occasional one now. It seems like when you get older, some crazy illness or malady is hiding in the potted plant, ready to "sock it to you" . I hope all is better today; I trust your headache is gone now.
