A Warrior Sonnet

Look around you, Brothers. Look around and see - The reason we were born has come this day. Strangers come among us with just one plea - That we surrender all and go our way. They have no wish to talk of peaceful things - They speak only of war and of plunder. Our blood runs hot and our ancestor sings Battle songs to put the foe asunder. Think, Brothers, of our children and wives. Think long of our king and his protection. No one comes among us with shields and knives, And lives to return the same direction Listen to the pulse that beats in your vein. Soak this soil with foreign blood once again. 9-9-2020 Contest: A Warrior Sonnet Sponsor: John Lawless

Your War sonnet is worthy of attention. A lot of sentiment captured in bold words. 'Soak this soil' and entire ending so strong. Plunder rhyme also spot on. Congratulations on a great write, Larry.
