A Walk In Winter
Sounds from my footsteps are muffled by the newly fallen snow
The air is cold and all is hushed as I walk a path I know
White flakes have fallen quickly throughout this winter's day
And now there is a deep blanket over this silent wooded way
Stately trees stand quietly watching as I walk this forest trail
Snow has covered their northern sides like a heavy veil
Fir trees bow their burdened branches as I pass slowly by
And in these quiet moments I can almost hear them sigh
The end of my trek draws closer and slowly the sun begins to sink
The snow that once was bright white is now tinged by sunset pink
Peace and beauty surround me here - it takes my breath away
So I stand here silently and wish that I could stay
