A Walk In the Dark

I've walked the path of darkness
No sights through the trees
My soul just a starkness
No lights.. though a breeze
In the emptiness I sat
Dark and brooding in thought
All the bitterness I spat
Hark! A new thing is brought

A smile, laying dormant
Came alive with the rain
A while since its forefront
Deprived of the pain
To see the path clearly
Needed both eyes wide open
For the wrath, I paid dearly
Happiness? here's hoping
