A Vow a Ring a Holy Thing
A Vow, a Ring, a Holy thing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was barely eighteen,
And you stood at my side
More than a friend now,
For, I was your bride
In every pew within the church
Our Family and friends
Witness to our young vows,
Of promise till lives end
The children came along and oh,
Those precious little tikes!
Our yard was filled with joys
N' toys n' little kiddie bikes
We grew older, and they grew up,
We sipped the many blessings
Of the Lord Who filled our cup
The years, they flew past me & you
Through sunny days, or stormy haze
And now our hair is mixed with greys
The terror of your heart attack,
We're praising God, you're left intact
To live some more on earthen shore
Treasuring life, more than before
Our vows, our rings, each Holy thing
Through joys or sorrow, honey; sting
And though the days on earth grow dim
Our hearts deep hope, ever on Him
You're at my side, I'm still your bride
We'll watch life's ever-flowing tide
The ebb, the flow, this earthen glow
Sunset begins; climb sure, yet slow
Beholding life, as Husband, wife
Praying our God ease every strife
I thank Him for His gift, so true;
Praising our God, for keeping you
Here near my side, and pray our song
Is healthy, joy-filled, life lived long
Vows we uttered with our young breath
To love and cherish, unto death
I pray it's long before that sting
And unto life and hope I'll cling
Wearing on my hand your ring
A circle like life. A Holy thing
