Australia is currently having a national plebiscite for equal marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples, to be as equal as heterosexual couples. Some people on the NO side seem to have become quite rude, verbally aggressive and scare mongering with misinformation, and this has created rifts within society.

We’re having a vote, can’t wait for a say, Can’t wait for the tick on the sheet, Can’t wait to hear the voice of the people, The voice from the folks on the street. Then the wait for a YES or a NO, Whether people get to marry hand in hand, Whether people, who love, can tie the knot, Or is this knot to be banned. You see, I think it’s a crazy idea, That this isn’t already a right, That we still need to explain it’s a human desire, That we still need to fight the good fight. Still, we’re having a vote for marriage equality, And my vote I will loudly confess, Is a big fat tick in the best ever box, The best ever box that says YES.
