Notes About The Poem

Written August 29

A Voice In My Head

On my daily commute
              I lay down my paper to dream
 of the old days,
    & yesterdays ways.

 I dream ,
        of summer sun
when my life had just begun,
     climbing trees &cricket on the green,
that the first time
      I made the school team.

I recall
 football with leather boots & ball,
       bonfire night &fireworks
 in the Fall;
   carol singing through silent streets
       paper chains &
 Christmas treats.
