A Vision of Camelot

The Beautiful Impossible 8-20-26
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Vision of Camelot
Above your dark and twisting
Tangled trail of cobwebs
Where blinding mists
 Sting like shame
Shining towers rise!
They capture the daystar’s fingers
Caressing
These bright crowns of covenant
With golden diadems of amber fire
So bright
The sky ignites the coming sunrise
With vows in brilliant glow.
Gaze deep into this heart
Of crystal fire
Transfixed
 Enthralled
 Transformed
By yearning
 For the refining core
Where secret fires forge dreams
And visions meld into the mystic
 Birthing spellbound castles
This unspoiled siren’s song,
A wingless bird of hope,
Flies
 Flawless
Just above
 Just beyond
   Beyond your fingertips.
Dear Sam, I love the musical Camelot. Your sudden turn toward the "shining towers" demonstrates how the human psyche uses visionary hope as a vital catalyst for healing. Describing hope as a "wingless bird" that hovers "just beyond your fingertips" is a deep truth, we are often refined more by what we reach for than by what we actually grasp. The act of yearning itself burns away shame and reconstitutes our spirit. Soaring and deeply inspiring work, Sam. Blessings, Daniel
There’s something beautifully dreamlike about this. I love the contrast between the dark, tangled cobwebs and the shining towers rising above them, it feels like hope emerging from somewhere almost impossible to reach. The daystar, amber fire, crystal and secret fires all give the poem this luminous, almost mystical quality, while “a wingless bird of hope” is such a lovely image. A really evocative piece about longing, transformation and the possibility of something better.
I had no idea how to even approach this challenge but I bet you did it just his he wanted. Great job, Sam.
Like you, I was stumped about how to tackle this theme. Then it hit me. The beautiful but impossible to reach is perfection - always just beyond our reach yet we continue our lifelong quest to achieve this realm, this state which I realized a long time ago will only be reached at the end of our lives. So, we journey on! So glad you liked this feeble attempt! Blessings and summer hugs!🥰
HI Sara, have always been fascinated by the play between goals, like realms of fantasy, and the path we create to reach them - a lifetime quest, so to speak. So glad you liked the mystical journey. Hope all is well. Blessings and hugs!
I love the feel in the reading of this, if that makes sense. I really concur/appreciate the description in the 1st stanza about what is below the above. Would you have liked to have been there, Sam? Me thinks so. Despite the below part. Every fantasy I have of long-ago days ends when I think of plumbing. CayCay
