A Villanelle I Would Write

I decided a Villanelle to write Looking at my garden on cusp of summer’s end Soon within my heart I realized my plight There the morning glories had reached their height My garden no longer a pretty godsend I decided a Villanelle to write I saw my mistake right away alright My garden wrapped in morning glories offends Soon within my heart I realized my plight The daylilies no longer bloomed just right A pastoral scene I would need to pretend I decided a Villanelle I would write No longer is there the sound of bobwhite Only the crows caw a warning to defend Soon within my heart I realized my plight A pastoral scene came to me with delight A sun rises over silhouetted pines and suspends I decided a Villanelle to write Soon within my heart, I realized my plight

Wonderful pictures of the dry garden on the cusp of summer. I really enjoyed reading your poetry, Sara; I thought the metaphors you used in conjunction with your lovely diction added a lot of glitz to your amazing writing.
