A Very Old Engraved Heart

LOOKING IN MY OLD ROOM, CLEANING OUT THE HOUSE AFTER MY MOTHER ENTERED HER FINAL REST, AS I LOOKED AT THE WALLS THAT ONCE KNEW EVERY SECRET IN MY TENDER HEART THE WINDOW THAT I WOULD LOOK OUT, AND SEE THE STREET LIGHT BELOW DANCE MAGICLY WITH SHADOWS OF SO MANY SUMMER EVENINGS THAT CARRIED MY MIND TO A TRANQUIL SLUMBER CLEANING OUT THE OLD ROOM, HAD REALLY BROUGHT BACK ALOT OF HAPPY MEMORIES, AND WITH A WARM SMILE I CLEANED THE CLOSET SHELF FILLED WITH DUST AND SAW ON THE SIDE THERE WAS A HEART ENGRAVED WITH TWO YOUNG LOVERS NAME WITH AN ARROW MARKED FOREVER..... I STOPPED, AND THE MUSIC SANG IN MY HEART, AS I THEN WONDERED IN MY MIND DAYS WHEN LIFE WAS SO SWEETER AND INNOCENT NOW, I HAVE CLEANED AND EMPTIED THIS ROOM FOR THE LAST BUT AS I CLOSED THE DOOR I STOPPED AND WENT BACK TO THE CLOSET, AND TOUCHED A VERY OLD ENGRAVED HEART.......

Interesting story in poetry form. It has a tender side that I can relate to. The all capitals format make this more difficult to read than if it was in standard format. It may be something to consider if you want to publish it elsewhere. Thank you for sharing your talent with us and for your kind words regarding my poem. Best wishes with your writing. Karen
