A Vast and Exploding Night Sky

A Vast And Exploding Night Sky

I dreamt of a vast and exploding night sky
lights by the billions soaring on by
Silence was fast dancing,I know not why
waiting for message as night did fly!

Each breeze flickered the big glowing sight
and thoughts matched the echoes of glee
Love touches waltzed with the beaming light
each caressing the yearning heart in me.

I dreamt of an angel, winging right on down
whispering she sought true deep love
As she fluttered there in her brilliant gown
winged beauty from the Heavens above.

I dreamt of a vast and exploding night sky
lights by the billions soaring on by
Silence was fast dancing,I know not why
waiting for message as night did fly!

No sound, the utter silence danced its tune
So strangely missing, was the smiling moon!

 Robert J. Lindley, 08-17-2015

Note. Shortened version of a much older
poem written back in the mid 70's. I cut
 out 3 stanza's = 12 verses.

Thanks Paul. That poem was inspired from a memory of an actual night when I slept on the top of a storage shed behind my house , just to enjoy the cool breeze and gaze at God's wonderful universe on a clear night.

Update- Composer Peter Klatzow has begun setting this poem to music, piano and voice. He has sent me the partial list of the poets he has chosen compose to. As of now , he has chosen Byron, William Blake, Tennyson, Shelly, and then myself. And has very kindly and graciously informed me that he will keep me appraised as it progresses. Has emailed me, the first part of the lyrics and score on my first few verses in this poem today.

Thanks my friend. I look back and see that some of my older stuff was fairly good. Even a few written when I ="whiskey bent and hell bound" Life gave me many restarts, why I have not a clue. Blessings given for some unknown reason.
