He always started his 1-minute video with the intro: "Turn to any page of St. Faustina's Diary, and you'll find spiritual gems, like this one!..." and then he'd read one of her quotes he'd chosen. Kind of like how this haibun is starting out with a paragraph... except he didn't conclude it with a haiku. What he did do was explicate her meaning --applying it to us today-- for 1 minute. Short and sweet, sometimes silly, but serious at times too. And he didn't just TALK. He acted out his point with scenery, characters, and drama. He made me laugh, as well as reconsider my values. Hey I read her Diary myself, but I learned even more from listening to this guy. I still need to tune in from time to time, to remind myself how to prioritize what's most important in my spiritual life. I actually didn't start bingeing his whole series until after it ended. It's hard to believe he's gone; I'm still in denial. I miss him although I never met the guy! But I believe he was an authentic kindred spirit among the believers of "Divine Mercy in my soul." Marc Massery himself was beyond a mere "diamond in the rough." His words of encouragement were clear, his charismatic style polished, and his sweet heart was genuine. His soul sparkled with the beauty befitting a jewel in the crown of Our Lady. So now I say, turn on any video of "Marc Massery's Mercy Minutes," and you'll find spiritual gems... because he's one.
