Notes About The Poem

For Fire Bird's A Fairytale Or Not, Short Story Poem Poetry Contest

Apparently Argentinian bazaar salesmen are passing off ferrets on steroids as toy poodles -- and people believe them.

A local news report out of Buenos Aires caught the attention of the Daily Mail and other sites this week, after a man took the "toy poodles" he bought at the La Salada market to a veterinarian, only to find that it was actually a giant weasel.

A True and Silly Tale

Do you know the tale about the guy who thought
two small, cute, fluffy poodles he had bought?
But they were not two poodles, for in fact,
the DNA of any dog they lacked.

Do you know what really those “dogs” were?
They were critters with perms put in their fur!
The buyer’s vet then had it verified.
The seller of the “poodles” had lied!

The buyer of them must have have felt so silly.
What were those two beady-eyed things really?
It turns out in fact they were ferrets. What??
Two ferrets given steroids the fool had bought.

Ahhh!!! Sad situation for all concerned. The people and the animals. That was someone going to extra mile to fool someone. LOL..Just think if that person put that intelligence to work doing something good what they might accomplish. Thanks for sharing this contest entry and for dropping by my page. Your work reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Sara K

You made me smile so much with this one and both the pictures are adorable. I feel more sorry for the poor ferrets though than the man. I hope they are ok. I love your rhyme poem. Highlights the silliness of buying ‘dogs’ at a market. Thank you for a fun read. P.S I think you’re great at light poetry!

There are a lot of fakes out there, so I am not surprised. Usually, the seller offers a special price and taps into the buyer's greed. This is a real lesson we should all heed. The "It could never happen to me" thinking may be what's shortsighted. I hope the ferrets end up in good homes.

Ferrets are related to weasels I think. The buyer was so dumb

This is a great fun poem Andrea, and an even greater scam to pull off, sounds like the buyer was either blind or on some serious medication lol! Hilarious I’m sure will do well in contest, cheers David

Probably I won't do well in the contest. I am on a losing streak with my light poetry
