A Triolet For Kitty

Some thought they heard a lover's fight.

To save the woman, no one tried.

When she was struggling that night,

some thought they heard a lover's fight!

Some saw her stagger out of sight. . .

where stabbed, then raped, she later died.

Some thought they heard a lover's fight.

To save the woman, no one tried.


Written April 25, 2016 now a re-entry for the Being Invisible Contest of Skat

Maybe I would have gone back to bed too. But gosh, I would like to think I would at least have called the police. Somebody did, toward the end. and an old woman went outside and found the dying girl and cradled her in her arms while awaiting the ambulance.
