A Triangle With Four Corners

a triangle with four corners

while sitting next to each other they both
knew they shared a mutual hatred for me.
hatred is the only thing that lasts, except
for these two, it came with fear.
after the drinks, after they ignored their
lovers, after they hid inside the darkness
of night, after they knew they'd be in some
heat if anyone knew they were together
outside of their relationships, the two swore
secrecy.
these two died years ago when they met
and they vowed without vowing to be loyal
to each other.
their street days make them think I'm foolish,
but my own street days overpower their
daily feeble attempts to secure themselves
inside a world without constant aggression
and insecurity. their nightmares are pale,
cheap and fraudulent.
I exposed these two, the gangster and the
female who cried on his lap because I knew
what they didn't want anyone to know.
they both talked about class, honor and how
each of them would never betray their lovers.

she threatened me: “you keep my name in
your mouth, you're going to get !@#$%^ up!”
he: brought a gun to the park, I told him if
you're going to kill me then do it. I'm not
!@#$%^ up, I'm not dead but they both sit in
fear of sharing the same fear.
they don't want his wife to know there was
more than one night together, you both fear
exposure, you both know nothing of class,
honor or loyalty to a lover.
he says it didn't happen, she says believe her
and let it go.
they are louder than they planned to be, they
are vibrant, I know what they don't want me
to know...
love is like a fog.
it burns with the first daylight of reality.
