A Triad of Haiku III

Small, Unctuous frog,

Squatting on his lily pad,

Only yawns to eat.
--------------------------------------

Gaudy cherry trees,

Fearful of a rising wind,

Grip their blossoms tight.
--------------------------------------

The stream's headwaters

Have not yet seen the valley;

Nor we yet Heaven.

I love these haikus, especially the last one . The stream, originating from the mountains and travelling to the valley hasn't seen it yet, we too in our pilgrimage is yet to reach heaven.

John, this triad is quietly stunning. Each haiku carries its own distinct weight and image, yet they thread together beautifully. The last one especially gave me pause—what a profound way to end. Really enjoyed this set.

Like you I like the third one best. We only get a glimpse of what's out there during our brief time on earth. So much waiting for us to explore and experience (though I have no dream of going to heaven. Shhh)

Wow! Such beautiful Haiku canvassing, John! Over the years, Haiku has become an addiction of love for me; likewise has the Senryu. These styles of writing resonate with me in so many ways. This Triad Of Haiku III, my mind and eyes, have taken at least 4 snapshots of. Thanks for the share. I enjoyed sitting here watching the scenes of 1 and 2, and the divine wisdom streamed in 3. ONE. Peace and Love.

Thank you, Andrea. I am pleased you think so. I am particularly most happy with the third one. It trys to convey to the reader a 'leap of faith': although the streams headwaters have never seen a valley...they still know it is there; likewise, a person who has a strong, unshakable faith does not have to see Heaven to know that it, also, is there. :) john
