A Tiara and Wings

In a tiara and wings
Zigging
Zagging
Bounding with being
I am a queen
Doing that little dance
That tells you
Everywhere I've been
Abloom
Abuzz
Bathing in
The pollen of play
Lapping up life
Nectaring
Dripping
Coiling to spring

You wouldn't know it
By looking at me
But I can fly!

And then comes the sting

My brother and I, as kids, would knock down a wasp's nest, find those ready to emerge and make pets of them. Little red bush flowers with long stems had sweet nectar. We kept and fed them 'till they were ready to fly. They never stung their mommys.

Oh wild, I love it. I enjoy feeding "my" wasps~ freaks out the men in my life. I have to resist my temptation to pet them. I did manage to raise three monarchs this summer... a wasp got the one big fat puba (mmm) ;)

I have seen way too many queen wasps lately. Ouch! Nicely done though. The words sizzled.

Great poem, well written. Reminds me of when a swarm of Hornets stung me about a month ago. I learned that they can fly faster than I can run! ;)

Yikes!!! The wasps love me, my garden, my cooking, my butterfly puba (that one annoyed me), but never been attacked nor swarmed, just stung in unwitting life or death situations. I feed them sometimes~ freaks out the grown men

You too huh, allergic to toddlers? ;D, I'm less afraid of bees and wasps. Lovely to see you James! Hugs my friend, xomo

Ouch Maureen. That last line really does sting, and I happen to bee allergic. Every line of this poem is a perfect fit suited for the title. Simply wonderful. Thanks Maureen.

I'm allergic too, not to bees, but unscheduled landings ;) I thought while writing this that toddlers and bees kinda look the same, neither ought to be able to fly. Thank you Jeff! xomo
