A Thing Called Elvis

Popularity was a thing called Elvis Exposed to the hungering masses Ability to sing with a shaky pelvis Sex appealing to poor lonely lasses, Comes once-in-a-lifetime, you see, The likes of such from Mississippi.

He was something, alright. ... But talk about being exploited. He was more victim than anything else, signing a lifetime contract for a mere 10% of the take from his records and concerts with 'Mr. Parker.' that shrewd businessman. Oh, well.

You are so right, gw. "Colonel" Parker was only interested in the "Colonel," and he made the most off of Elvis back then.

he was special in his days but had to suffer social and political arrows all the time! Sad he died of Liver cirrhosis from excess alcohol! Nice write!!! I intend visiting his place in Memphis. My son is a great fan.

I was listening to Elvis, the Beatles, Cher, Tina, and the like this morning when I looked down and realized I was driving 92 miles an hour! My car was not even shaking!

Elvis was an interesting and entertaining guy, indeed, Milton. I just finished reading a book by one of his step-brothers, with whom he was very close and his step-bro cast him as a very caring and underneath it all, a very religious man. Well Done, sir - Bob H

That is so true, Robert. Many years ago, a minister friend who knew Elvis personally said he was an exceptionally good young man who was always working around the church. A Christian boy.

(chuckling) Well, Robert, I have no idea what "itching like a man in a fuzzy tree" would be like. Don't know what a "fuzzy tree" is.

I saw one fairly recently, but I can't remember what it was. I visited his home and park in Tupelo, Mississippi, last summer.

Great performer he was too, sadly drugs and junk food were his downfall. Tom

I'm afraid so, Tom, like too many good performers.
