A Thief In the Night
A thief broke into my house last night; the doors were left wide open.
The dogs stirred not as I slumbered on …. Dreaming of us.
I awoke with a start.
Leaping out of bed, I tripped on my tender thoughts of you
As I fled the room searching for the intruder.
Room to room, floor to floor, I searched in vain, but all was in order.
Locking the doors, I returned to bed.
And as I drifted off to sleep, I realized the intruder had been you!
While I slept, you had crept into my soul and had stolen my heart!
