A Thief In the Day
It isn’t so much that the news
is bad or good.
It’s just that it
interprets our world.
The delight of discovery is stolen,
like bad teaching,
as we lose our ability to make meaning.
The hero’s journey is sacrificed
on the cash poor altar of mediocrity and fear.
An oh, so sweet seduction pulls us
into a stupor of complacency.
These are the true assaults on the home front—
where heart, mind, and spirit
become our greatest casualties.
