A Taste of Addiction

I got a taste for you
an addiction really
like the sweet bitterness
of salted caramel
even though you burned me
as whiskey on the throat
I wanted you
almost needed your attention
like the pain of the self-harmer
yet I knew
you were destruction
still longing for your poison
willing it to run though my veins
so I could feel
like I mattered
