A Sweet Little Girl; Dedicated To Haleigh Poutre
A sweet little girl,
In a great big, scary world;
Trying to live a life,
Filled with oh so much strife.
She puts on a smile,
Pretends it's fine for a while.
With every passing day,
Her childhood's being ripped away.
How is it that we couldn't see,
That she was really down upon her knees?
Praying for anyone to speak their mind.
Hoping that someone would finally find,
A way to get her out of this mess,
Without forcing her to have to confess,
That someone she trusted was hurting her so.
She must have wondered how no one could know.
But somehow someone continued to hurt the child,
Even though some minor reports were filed.
Everyday now must bring us disgrace,
While we remember each bruise we saw on her face.
She lived such a brutal life but was oh so bold,
And she was so very convincing with each story she told.
Then came that fateful night,
When someone finally extinguished her light.
Now she's tucked in a hospital bed,
Permanently trapped inside of her head.
Please let her pain end in another way!
We can't go back I'm so very sorry to say;
A sweet little girl now locked in a cave,
A beautiful life we all could have saved.
